In her book How to Fail: Everything I’ve Ever Learned from Things Going Wrong, Elizabeth Day discusses her failed IVF cycles and miscarriage.

I am regretful and sad that I am not a mother but it does not encompass me.

I’m now at peace with the fact that it’s highly unlikely I’ll have my own biological child.

Now 40 or 41 (not sure which), Day is generally fairly sanguine about not having children of her own. The Guardian has an article about Day’s book and podcasts here.

I always thought I’d follow the conventional narrative of getting married and having children. But it didn’t work out that way and I will never tire of talking about it until the stigma attached to that is addressed.

I think the book is due out in paperback around about now.
